Doing a PhD can be exciting, meaningful and deeply rewarding.
It can also be absolutely ridiculous.
Deadlines. Papers. Presentations. Reviewer comments. Revisions. Meetings that could have been emails. More revisions. And that strangely persistent feeling that everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing.
That’s why I wrote my new book of PhD affirmations, PhD Affirmations for the Academically Exhausted
PhD Affirmations for the Hard Days
This book is for the days when the research isn’t working.
For the days when your confidence disappears somewhere between Reviewer 2 and your 47th open browser tab.
For the days when you wonder whether you’re the only person finding all of this difficult.
You’re not.
We’re all on the same PhD boat. We just don’t always admit how much the boat is rocking.
What’s Inside This Funny PhD Book
The book is a collection of humorous affirmations inspired by the pressure, awkwardness, frustration, tiny victories, disappointments and occasional chaos of academic life.
I wanted to turn some of that pressure into something we could laugh about. Not because the struggle isn’t real, but because it often gets a little easier to carry when you realize someone else is carrying it too.
A Gift for PhD Students (or Yourself)
If you’re doing a PhD, or you know someone who is currently surviving one, I made this for you. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a friend, partner or labmate who could use a reminder that they’re doing better than they think.
You’re not alone.
You’re not doing it wrong.
And yes, sometimes the whole thing really is that ridiculous.
So let’s laugh about it.
Then somehow… get back to the research. 😅
